Canvas board (30x40 cm) and Van Gogh H2Oil paint ( over a sloppy acrylic underpainting. )
My first oil painting ever
Didn't have the best reference picture ever, and it's not my most detailed painting ever, but this cool waterloving doggie passed away and this is my gift to his owners. I'm pretty happy with the result - especially when looking at it from a short distance.
Does anyone know how long H2Oils take to 'cure' before I can spray the lot with a gloss varnish?? H2Oils supposedly dry faster than regular oils, Netherlands here, summer weather with the occasional bit of rain/thunder..so somewhat humid but warm enough. It's been about 2 months since I thouched it I guess, and it''s dry to touch on most parts except where I used a lot of linseed oil to dilute the paint (somewhere above the ear) where it's still a little tacky, but overall it's still pretty 'glossy' - Do I have to wait until all the gloss is gone?
Also /impatient/, what would happen if I varnished it before it totally dried. I mean this is no museum quality anyway so if it doesn't fall apart within 50 years, I'm good. I'm so ready to ship this thing, they don't know it's coming. (If it's gonna take another 8 months to cure I'm sending it either varnished to early, or unvarnished.. unless there are alternatives?)
