Freckles are hard. I remember a drawing I did of an old man for school, and the liver spots on his face were a bitch to do. *g* You're probably long since done with this one, but ... yeah. Try a soft pencil and draw very lightly so as not to make the freckles stand out too sharply. Be sure not to make them too uniform in size, as well. As for the hat, I think I'd choose to draw all that can be seen of it in the upper right corner.
And in fear of repeating myself: the eyes are, once more, wonderfully drawn. Same goes for the nose. Maybe soften up the line between her lips a little, but her mouth is well crafted as well.
You're making me want to do more pencil drawings, dammit!
The original actually is auctioned off for charity as we speak (every year at the end of The Mole season there is a fan gathering and the contestants usually come as well. But I'm sick and can't go, but if I did I'd be busted within minutes for having no artistic training at all, lol, so it's OK)
I'm kind of curious though for how much it will go - I'm nowhere near feeling comfortable enough to ask money for my 'work'.
I'll upload the finished one as soon as I can (different computer). I was pretty happy with this one (although, with everything I've drawn the longer I look at it the more mistakes jump out to me..)
I ended up doing the freckles by loading a blending stump with a little of very soft graphite (pencil over sandpaper), worked out pretty good.
And, I was so happy she's wearing a hat - less hair to draw, still haven't figured that out.
I know the feeling and I can barely look at most of the stuff in my gallery for that very reason.
That was a pretty good idea for doing freckles. I'm boring enough that I don't think I would've thought of that myself. I tend to stick with just one technique throughout my drawings. Bad habit.
